What's Neck Liposuction?
Submental liposuction (also known as Neck Liposuction, Chin Liposuction or “Chin Lipo”) is a minimally invasive facial cosmetic procedure best performed on patients who present with the appearance of a “double chin” or otherwise heavy neck area. For these patients, the procedure can result in incredible results.
The procedure can be performed under general or local anesthesia. During the procedure, no more than 3 small incisions are made directly under the chin and behind the ears. Through these small incisions a suction device is used to remove excess fat under the neck and jawline. The procedure takes about an hour and patients are sent home after their treatment has been completed.
Recovery and Results
Although recovery times vary from person to person, most patients will be completely recovered from their procedure within 3-5 days after swelling has lessened, and many are fully recovered after a week. Results from Submental Liposuction are considered permanent because the fat cells around the neck and jawline are removed. By removing the fat under the chin and in the front of the neck, the procedure results in a more sculpted and better-defined neck and jawline, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
